Taking Care of Business
Elvis has left the building.
That is, Thai Elvis. A beloved L.A. institution. He's left his former Thai Town location for a new address.
Perhaps you already know the way he commands the audience with endearingly accented renditions of "Love Me Tender" and "Blue Suede Shoes." Perhaps you've been mesmerized by his glittering get-ups and gyrating hips. Wednesday through Sunday at Palms restaurant on Hollywood, Kavee Thongprecha is Elvis.
Are you lonesome tonight? Then you'll be pleased to find that the move hasn't taken him far. Just down the street to Palms' new location at Hollywood and Bronson.
Happily the food hasn't changed. Flavor fireworks at bargain basement prices.
And the new space is no heartbreak hotel either — about double the size of the old, though somewhat more sterile. The lighting is brighter and the tropical decor a bit less … Blue Hawaii. Yeah, there are more tables, but you still might have to wait, especially during peak Elvis hours.
Even suspicious minds will be pleased to know that the parking situation at the new Palms is greatly improved over the cramped ding-factory outside the old place. Now valet's do the job for a nominal $2.50.
…Which makes it easier to catch your favorite hunk of burning love.
