What's Your Deal
Celebrity poker is making a splash — but you don't have to be famous to get in the game.
If there's a Benjamin burning a hole in your pocket and you've been looking for just the right tourney to get yourself started, we've got a suggestion.
Tonight, The Bicycle Casino is hosting its Mini Series of Poker tournament. If it sounds like small potatoes, that's exactly the point. It's No-Limit Texas Hold-Em open to all comers. You'll drop $100 for the buy-in and the entry fee is $25.
So how big is the take? During June The Bike held a few comparable tournaments. Last go round (June 16) over 500 people turned out on a Thursday night. The buy-in was $150 and the winner walked away with $14,435. Since tonight's not a school night and the buy-in is even lower, expect a crowd.
If you squint hard and tilt your head the right way it's just like Vegas — except for the preponderance of bad florescent lighting. A small price to pay for avoiding the 5-hour drive to Sin City. After all, The Bike's right off the 710, practically pedaling distance from downtown.
There's not really any street parking so plan to pony up a hefty $1.50 for valet, payable on the way out.
...Which means you better have some money in your pockets when you leave.
