Out to Lunch
Lunch at your desk again, huh?
You know, there's a reason they call it a lunch HOUR. But if the term "lunch special" strikes you as an oxymoron, why not bump up your hour of power with a live show?
TheatrExpresso is like dinner theater at midday. Book yourself into one of two Thursday performances and trade your dreary desktop for banquet seating and tables with cloths.
Through July 14 the show is "A Match Made In Hell," a romantic comedy set in the office of Satan's lawyer. At about 22 minutes, the show fits the window for a typical sitcom. With lunch the whole shebang still clocks in under an hour.
Is it funny? Well … amusing, but not off the hook. Sitcom, yes. Arrested Development, no. But who cares? Even the best TV doesn't hold a candle to live theatre.
As for parking, if you're determined to feed a meter, be sure to pray to the parking gods and give yourself some extra time. Baseline price for lots in the area is $2 every 15 minutes.
And if your boss asks why you left the office, just say the devil made you do it.
