Delusions of Grandeur
Why is it that every pair of eyeglasses makes you look like an ad for LensCrafters? Even the round ones make you look square.
Maybe it's time to break free from fuddy-duddy frames.
But there's breaking free — and then there's going spectacle spectacular:
Delusions Eyeware has styles ranging from mildly whimsical to totally-out-there.
Each pair is hand-crafted and customized for you by Long Beach artist Douglas Johnson. Johnson has made original eyewear since 1996 — bending and shaping his wire frames with a jeweler's tool.
If you think they look a little sci-fi, you're not alone. You can catch Johnson's glasses in the intergalactic fantasy film Serenity, coming this fall. (We hear the demand for sunglasses in deep space is slim — good thing these specs are also prescription friendly.)
Form before function — they're like wearable works of art. But the wires are thin, so each pair of specs is kind of noodley. Wear with care.
And if you think they'll last without a hard case you're, well … delusional.
Glasses from Delusions Eyeware cost $150 and are available at DelusionsEyeware.com.
