Geek Chic
The watch you wear says something about you. A high style number will get you looks from the ladies. A high-tech number reveals your inner James Bond.
But what does it say when you wear the dorkiest watch imaginable? Something bulky and square with a technology that could only be considered frivolous?
You can find out by donning The Metal Dork from Nixon. The design is reminiscent of spy gear from 60s cinema but with a modern twist. Press the button on the face and the watch tells the time in the voice of Tony Hawk, Saxon Boucher or what the company is calling "other surprise guests."
The guests are most likely quasi-celebs from the boarding circuits (skate/surf/snow), since Nixon puts its sponsorship dollars into those sports. And the watches are available mostly in beach and board shops.
But listen up, surfers: Geeking yourself out with The Metal Dork is a strictly out-of-ocean experience. This particular model isn't waterproof.
Once again, it's hip to be square.
The Metal Dork and other Nixon watches are available at District Skate Board Shop at 12015 Venice Blvd. in Venice or at NixonNow.com. |
