May 20, 2005 Art Smart Los Angeles loves its art walks. From LACMA to the Brewery Los Angelinos are willing to dump their cars and hoof it for art. And one of longest-running art walks around happens this weekend at the beach. The Venice Art Walk & Auction is a chance to step inside the private working spaces and homes of artists and collectors. The main events break down like this: For $50 you can spend Sunday at the Venice Art Walk and Auction. You get an event guide and a map directing you to over 60 art stops. Another $75 gets you into the On the Fringe Tours and Art Auction Preview, which means you get in on Saturday for a chance to see notable artists and homes outside the core Venice Art Walk area. If you want to do both Saturday and Sunday, they offer a package deal for $100. The proceeds go to the Venice family clinic. But if the thought of forking over a wad of dough on TOP of the thousands you'll spend buying artwork doesn't appeal, then keep it free by limiting your walk to Bridges and Beyond, an installation-in-progress featuring the site-specific work of eight Los Angeles artists.
