On the Edge
Don't come to Cliffs Edge looking for a view of the ocean. Because it's in Silver Lake.
Don't come for the main dining room, either -- though its interesting art and polished bohemian feel will tempt you.
Why come? To find out, you have to step outside. Cliffs Edge is all about the patio.
Bring your date here and she'll know she looks good under the low-hung string lighting. Come with a group and try to get a spot on the deck under a thatched-roof gazebo. You'll sit on satin pillows and have a view of the pleasant courtyard.
The patio alone would be reason enough to find yourself at this Edge, but the food is also a draw. Chef Kurt Schulwitz calls the menu "family-style Cal-Italian," which translates to L.A.'s mandatory salads paired with interesting pasta dishes, fish entrees and a filet mignon the staff likes to brag about.
Start with a large bowl of French fries with gorgonzola dipping sauce for the table — a sure crowd pleaser. Move on to a delectable pumpkin ravioli. Pastas range from $12 to $16, entrees from $16 to $22.
A sound ordinance means diners must seek shelter after 10pm weeknights (11pm weekends). If that puts YOU on edge, then come for brunch on the weekend.
Cliffs Edge is located at 3626 Sunset Boulevard at Edgecliffe. Call 323.666.6116 for reservations.
