In the Hood
Whether you're straight out of Compton, a Silver Lake hipster or proud to be Beverly Hills, 90210, your neighborhood says something about you.
And now you can proclaim allegiance to your 'hood for all to see. Neighborhoodies is a T-shirt and sweatshirt outlet where you can customize your purchase with letters and simple symbols.
The business got its start just over two years ago in New York when writer
Michael de Zayas decided to express his own neighborhood pride with a shirt that said "FT. GRENE." Today Neighborhoodies boasts a couple outlets in New York, one in Las Vegas, and now Los Angeles.
The L.A. store got off to a bumpy start, opening last summer in the Schwab's retail complex. It moved from that location and reopened in March in the Hollywood and Highland mall. But if that's more tourists than you can bear, there's an online store as well.
If skyrocketing real estate costs have you living someplace you're less than proud of, go with something else. Try "Genius," "Yum" or maybe "My parents went to [insert random city] and all I got was this..."
Neighborhoodies is located near the entrance of the Kodak Theatre in the Hollywood and Highland complex.
