Illuminati
The outlook for night riding is brighter all the time.
Skateboarders can shred under the stars with headlights under their decks. And now bike riders have joined the ranks of the gadget illuminati with their own glowing gear.
Hokey Spokes are lighting up the bicycle world with their lighted designs.
Hokey? Perhaps, but not a spoke exactly. They are actually a translucent blades that attach to your spokes. As your tire spins you get a computer-generated light display in your wheel cage.
The blades come in four colors which you can mix and match, and fit on any tire larger than 24-inches. The more lights you use, the more clear the image becomes even at slow speeds. And if you happen to have a Palm V lying around, you can use it to work a message into your display.
As far as safety goes, what sets Hokey Spokes apart from traditional bike lights is their side-visibility. They cover the area headlights and tail lights miss -- sort of like wheel reflectors on steroids.
Whether you buy them for Burning Man or to promote your pizza delivery business, you'll definitely get looks.
Hokey Spokes are available at hokeyspokes.com.
