Night Rider
Skateboard safety.
It's an oxymoron isn't it? If skateboards were meant to be safe they would come with a break pedal. Or an airbag. You've considered the idea of knee pads and a helmet -- but what would they do to your cred among the local skate rats?
But there is a way to protect yourself against one big threat: Darkness. Straight out of the Why-Didn't-I-Think-of-That category comes this interesting little device from DBSumo. SunRiser Skateboard Headlights attach to the belly of your board, between the deck and the truck, and light the way for your shred.
A warning on the bottom reads "LED lamps are extremely bright. Do not look directly into the light. If you do, don't come crying to us." That translates into about 50 feet of illumination on the pavement. Sounds like a lot, but in fact this device may not help you see as much as it helps other see you.
Built to take a beating, the light costs $20 plus $5.00 shipping. At that price you could buy two, point them at each other under your deck and look like you're floating along on an ethereal glow.
With a device that looks this cool, who's going to notice that it also happens to keep you safe? Just don't let the word get out in Dogtown.
You can buy Sunriser Skateboard Headlights at the DBSumo.com.
