Easter Gets the Shaft
What happened to Easter? When you were a kid it was a big event. At least in the holiday top three. Today, you don't even get a day off.
So let's say you're stuck in L.A. with no Easter Basket to call your
own. If you don't want your Easter to suck eggs, get your fill of
Easter cheer and corny egg puns at a few spots around town:
Kiddie Mob Scene
If you've got kids or can borrow someone else's (only recommended if you know the parents), Radio Disney's Easter Egg-Splosion is the most egg-stravagant production in town. The day kicks off with an egg hunt and includes a free concert and photos with the big guy himself, the Easter Bunny. It all happens at Johnny Carson Park right next to the NBC studios in Burbank.
Dogs in Drag
Unless PETA intervenes first, the Haute Dog Easter Parade will rear its glammy head Easter Day in Belmont Shore, Long Beach. See dogs strut in bonnets and canine Easter outfits. You can enter your own pooch for $10.
Bunnies, Bunnies Everywhere
No Easter feature would be complete without mention of The Bunny Museum in Pasadena. Like a road-side attraction right here in our metropolis, this museum features over 17,000 bunny collectibles. Uh, did we say museum? The collection is actually in a private home.
Romp in the Gardens
One particularly good location for soaking in the signs of spring is the Descanso Gardens in La Canada. And since they hold their egg hunts on Saturday, Easter Day is reserved for grown-up pleasures -- namely, brunch by Patina and a walk though the gardens.
Speaking of Brunch
If your Easter Bunny wears clip on ears and fishnet stockings, you might want to hop on over to one of L.A.'s fine eateries to show her off. Open Table has assembled a detailed list of restaurants doing something special for E-Day.
