Double-D in D Minor

(note: to get through your spam filters, we've chosen alternate spellings for some words.)

P0rn Star Karaoke.

How much more do we need to say? Every Tuesday night, at Sardo's bar/restaurant in Burbank.

Yep, it's exactly what it sounds like: people in p0rn, singing their hearts out. Though the title belies the actual clientele, which runs the gamut from on-camera talent, to production. Producers. Writers. Boys trying to break in. Girls busting out.

Early in the evening, you may ask yourself if you've come to the right place. But you're reassured by the professionally printed banner on stage and the printed tent cards proclaiming "Reserved: PSK VIPs Only" that grace a couple tables along with a note about a two-drink minimum.

As the evening wears on, the "starlets" become numerous. How will you know them? They're hard to miss. Exaggerated figures. Taught garments. Earl Scheib makeup. And they're not exactly shrinking violets. Throughout the night, they do what they do (second) best: steal the show. Flirting. Teasing. Mingling. Networking. It's their world and we just look silly wearing clothes in it.

On a recent night one visitor was lucky enough to encounter Ron Jeremy in the mix. When she asked for his autographed he obliged by signing on her posterior. Backward, so she'd see it the right way in a mirror.

Oh yeah, there's singing, too. Though few seem to notice through the din of Olympic caliber shmoozing. Some talented singers, too.

They are professional entertainers after all.

P*rn Star Karaoke goes wild Tuesday nights at Sardo's starting at 9p.m. For more information, call (818) 846-8126.
