Time for Technology
Watches, as it turns out, are a convenient place to carry your tech. Their key advantage is bodily attachment. Harder to misplace because you don't put them down, they also don't bulk up your pockets. But how geeky are you willing to get?

BMW MP3 Watch
Beyond Telling Time: The name says it all. Leave the iPod at home and take your music to go.
Specs: With a 256MB hard drive, you can expect to carry 4 - 5 hours of music. Also comes in a 512MB version. The MP3 player runs on separate batteries than the watch. Compatible with Windows/Linux/Mac.
Geek Factor: Low. When you hide the USB cable this could be mistaken for a bulky diving watch. Don't dive with it though because it's not water proof.
Spy Factor: High. There's a built in voice recorder.
Price Tag: $275 for the 256 MB version and $350 for the 512MB version. Available at BMW Online.

Golf Watch
Beyond Telling Time: Just about every golf function you could need.
Specs: Four modes: Scratch, stroke, stableford and match play. Includes an electronic score card and leaderboard. Also includes software for downloading stats to do some long-term analysis.
Geek Factor: Medium. The small size of this watch makes it inconspicuous. But the overall design is about as hip as a pair of plaid golf trousers.
Spy Factor: Low. Sure, Bond played golf but this wouldn't have helped on his covert operations.
Price Tag: $299

2-Way Communicator Watch
Beyond Telling Time: A walkie-talkie for your wrist.
Specs: One-and-a-half mile range, 22 channels. Comes with headset and microphone and also 3 interchangeable face plates. (As if a different face color would make it less hideous?)
Geek Factor: Through the roof. In a phrase: Beam me up Scotty.
Spy Factor: High but not extreme. Would be a quintessential spy item if it weren't so obviously a walkie-talkie.
Price Tag: $40

Specs: Stores up to 80 images (depending on image size). Comes with PC compatible software for transferring and editing images.
Geek Factor: Medium-high. But this watch is an improvement over its predecessor.
Spy Factor: Through the roof. Though somewhat lessened by the omnipresent camera cell phone.
Price Tag: $97.80 at Digital Foto Club.
